AFC Sudbury Reserves have been fielding a development team of players from our highly successful Academy since the 2014/15 Season. Our best points finish has been in the 2015/16 season when we amassed 52 points.
Craig Power is the Head Coach of AFC Sudbury Reserves and works with our players daily within his role at the AFC Sudbury Academy and has been a huge influence on many of the boys who have played in this league while representing the Academy.
Like any development team the personnel change from year on year as these young players progress and begin to play at the higher levels either for AFC Sudbury 1st Team or beyond. Since 2014 we have had many players progress including three current professional players who began their senior adult football for AFC Sudbury Reserves in the Thurlow Nunn League D1. They are Tyler French currently playing for Dundee in the Cinch Scottish Championship, Liam Bennett currently at Walsall EFL League 2 and Joshua Blunkell at Wycombe Wanderers EFL League 1. We are also very proud to see many of our ex Academy players plying their trade at various other Thurlow Nunn Step 6 & 5 Clubs and it is always great to bump into them in opposition.
The AFC Sudbury Reserve team is a very important step in the pathway and development of our young players at the AFC Sudbury Academy and we are very grateful for the continued quality of the clubs and league.
