Detts looks to the future

AFC Sudbury are pleased to report first team midfielder and ex Academy player Tommy Dettmar will be going for his long awaited operation next week. Tommy damaged his knee in preseason training last year and after working hard to get back to fitness, had a recurrence in the away game at Felixstowe and Walton. The damage was to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) which left him in a heavy knee brace since then.

1st Team Manager Mark Morsley spoke to the AFC Website today and had the following to say. “It is great news for Tommy and for our club that hopefully things are now moving to getting the lad back to playing. The operation was delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic so it has been a very frustrating time for the Dettmar’s so hopefully we can see a ‘light at the end of the tunnel’. Tommy is one the best lads to have progressed from Academy to 1st Team and that was highlighted when he won the Managers Player of the Year award 2018/2019 Getting him playing will be great for the club as he is a lad I have great belief in, so hopefully all goes well and he is able to re-join the group for preseason training in late June”.
