DAFA 2 - AFC SUDBURY 0
The game began with both teams working hard to find an opening. DAFA had more possession but AFC were dangerous on the break.
The breakthrough came for DAFA when the AFC defense cleared a corner but it fell for a DAFA player just outside the box, who unleashed a thumping shot which AFC goal keeper Rowan Howlett did brilliantly to push onto the bar, but the ball came down just over the line for 1 nil.
Shortly after it was 2 nil as a short goal kick was pounced on by the DAFA attack and finished well.
AFC had chances with Oliver Richold and Charlie Brooks going close.
In the second half it was AFC who controlled the game with George Basham, Finlay Kent and Oliver Jeffrey solid at the back and Spencer Turner and Henry Richold controlling the center of the pitch. AFC went close again when Charlie Brooks hit the outside of the post with a free kick and further chances were passed up by Oliver and Henry Richold as they shot over the bar.
It was a dominant performance but AFC could not find a way through. Subs Olly Stalker, Kuba Slowinski and Harry Byford came on and all put in excellent performances for a great team performance overall. Man of the match went to Spencer Turner for his work rate and huge number of tackles won in mid field.
AFC Sudbury 1 - Melford 1
AFC got off to the worst possible start when a mis-directed goal kick was hammered first time past goalkeeper Rowan Howlett. Melford pushed for a second but solid defending from Finlay Kent, George Basham and Oliver Jeffrey kept them at bay. The AFC keeper was called into action again towards the end of the first half as he turned away a strong shot.
AFC were much improved in the second half but Melford looked dangerous on the break. Charlie Brooks was played in but the ball got stuck under his feet and the chance was gone. Finaly Kent had a shot from distance go just wide and Kuba Slowinski beat the keeper but saw his shot brilliantly turned off the line by a Melford defender. Melford had a goal disallowed for offside and minutes later AFC got a deserved equalizer. More good work down the left from Kuba Slowinski as he cut into the box and found Charlie Brooks who found a neat finish into the bottom corner. Man of the match was George Basham who was outstanding at the back.
