Today the first team travelled across county to take on our near rivals East Bergholt in a league clash.
It was a bright sunny afternoon, perfect conditions for a game of football.
Bergholt looked ready for a battle on home territory but were soon under pressure from the kick off. Bergholt were struggling to get out of their half in the first 15 minutes, resulting in Evie Creaton putting us one ahead.
More of the same from the restart with Sudbury midfield working hard to snuff out any hope Bergholt had of getting into the game.
Pressing forward we had a couple of good shouts for penalties that on another day would've been given.
A well worked move with a great through ball to Amy Thompson on the left saw our girl brought down on the edge of the box in the 32nd minute, up steps Megan Partridge who rifled the free kick past the wall and into the net 0-2 Sudbury.
The girls continued to apply pressure with Creaton and Thompson coming close and Partridge proving difficult for the Bergholt defence to handle, good stops from the Bergholt keeper saw the half time whistle go with the yellows 2 goals to the good.
Fired up and making the most of the autumn sun the girls stayed out for the half time team talk with Mallet working his usual magic.
Second half, game on, Bergholt come out all guns firing trying to apply pressure on our backline.
However Sudbury's midfield and defence looked solid strong performances from the central defence pairing of Brogan and Teigan Mchale with academy girls Hannah Stephenson and Amber Provin standing firm.
It wasn't long before 2nd years Academy player Rebecca Stephenson broke Bergholt's heart with a great strike that wrong footed the Bergholt keeper; 0-3 yellows.
Sudbury took this as a cue to push numbers forward with Maisie Goodwin coming close with a great strike from outside the box.
Bergholt fought hard but under the continued pressure another goal was only a matter of time and sure enough with ten minutes to go Amy Thompson added a fourth.
Another clean sheet for the girls speaks volumes.
With five Sudbury players in the top ten of league scorers things look good for the future.
