As the season is now underway it is time we introduced our Captains for the season
All these players are available to sponsor along with the rest of the squad.
In the meantime though, read these Bios, and if you like what your reading come down on a Sunday and give the girls some support.
BROGAN
What age and why did you start playing?
I started playing aged 6 for a local club. The reason I started playing was I used to watch my brother play every weekend, that was the spark after that I always wanted to play.
What positions have you played?
I started playing at full back from an early age but I’ve spent most of my time in woman's football playing in centre midfield but after a season ag Sudbury I moved to centre back with the help of Luke’s coaching I believe I have found my best position.
What kept you going?
Probably the biggest desire to keep playing was to play at the best level I could. Also having Teigan, my sister playing, has always encouraged me to keep going. Now it would be to continue the growth of women’s football.
Why Sudbury?
At the time the programme at Sudbury was not as big at it is now, but as soon as I had completed my first training session I knew I wanted to sign, as the facilities were really good especially in comparison to what other clubs offered at the time. Additionally, Luke, the first team manager had a big influence on joining as he was ambitious. The club also had a desire to climb the leagues and had ambitions beyond one season, it was a longer term plan, which was incredibly encouraging.
Playing history
I started playing women’s football at the age of 16 for Bishops Stortford ladies and after 3 seasons I wanted a new challenge so joined Sudbury in 2019.
Thoughts on the club
My first season at the club was also Luke’s first season as manager, I feel like I have watched the club grow enormously over the last 3 years, from being one small team to having two full squads. I think a big draw to this club is the style of football we are encouraged to play and the quality we have from playing out from the back. Having Adrian as the Head of Womens football has allowed the club to continue to create amazing opportunities for the Womens teams. Last season really embodied what the club stands for and was what we have built towards. Being able to get a double promotion and win the Suffolk cup has just shown how much we have grown.
What do you hope to bring to the club/ambitions?
I think I can bring experience, motivation and leadership to this role. I intend to pass on my experience of playing Womens football for many years and my knowledge of playing in this league to some of the younger members of the team. I believe I can help create the best team environment so all the players encourage each other and feel they can step up as leaders. In terms of ambitions for this season I think we can aim to achieve the best possible finish in this higher league and carry the momentum and belief over from last season. We should try and gain more valuable experience from playing against better teams and players. As a club the ambitions should continue to be growing the Womens game at Sudbury and provide more opportunities. We can build on the success from last season and use it as a platform for further improvements.
